The Foundation of Your Internet Network Marketing Success
What would you say is the foundation of your success in internet network marketing? How about generating a list of prospects, previous experience in internet marketing, owning multiple websites, writing copy that sells, using an e-mail autoresponder, etc? (You’ve most likely heard these before.)
I suggest these will lead to success but are not the FOUNDATION of your success online; they are some of the (important) bricks that lay the foundation for your online success. But the foundation should aim at BUILDING A NETWORK MARKETING TEAM THROUGH DUPLICATION.
When I first started in internet network marketing I e-mailed my “team leader” asking him the #1 thing I should focus on. The answer: “building a relationship with the people [you] have already sponsored.” What? How about sponsoring more people and growing my business… I need more prospects – or so I thought.
He said I need to “spend time to get to know them… their goals, time commitments… help them to get their first 2 people and THEN HAVE THEM DO THE SAME TO GET THE DUPLICATION.” I’ve written before on the importance of building relationships with prospects, and now I want to emphasize the importance of building a relationship with your team. It is YOUR team. People want to see success and feel they belong to a company that cares about them. This also leads to retention of your team members – in addition to them feeling motivated to recruit others. Thus, your team can grow through duplication and team efforts.
Remember the great thing about network marketing is LEVERAGE. By having a strong bond with your team members you will have greater retention, and your team will grow exponentially.
At that point, as my team leader also said, “this will create a large amount of people, but you need to be prepared to handle that team.”

Throughout the history of network marketing, duplication has been proclaimed as essential. Statements like, "If something is not duplicatable, do not do it" have been set in stone. Then one of the most high profile and most successful network marketers declares duplication is a myth. Is he right and if so, where does that leave us?
I think it is a matter of degree. The degree of duplicatability depends on what you are doing to build your network marketing business. Once upon a time their was no internet. We had to approach our friends, family, work colleagues and talk to anyone who came within 3 feet of us - that is one metre for you metric-heads. These examples demonstrate how our personality played a major role in our rate of success. Since each of us is unique, our personalities cannot be duplicated which lends weight to the argument that duplication is a myth, but then there is the internet.
On the internet everything can be automated. I can set up a, "just add water" marketing system with everything such as suggested headlines and ad copy; how to's on blog marketing, article marketing, search engine optimisation, effective pay per click advertising and much more.
I could make this marketing system available to everybody in my group and by using it they will get very similar results. They can duplicate me - but still only to a degree because - and this may surprise you - of the internet.
As soon as you offer a specific way to do something, word gets out and on the internet, most people will be using it within 48 hours and be competing with each other. The traffic exchanges demonstrate multiple examples of this. That being the case, the more determined and enterprising network marketers look for ways to tweak the system. A typical tweak for example, is to modify advertisements by changing the headlines and the body copy. How does this affect duplication?
Tweaking any part of the system introduces your own ideas and preferences - your personality. As your personality is unique, any changes you make, reduces by degree, the duplicatablity of the system, does it not? Back to the question - where does this leave you and me?
It doesn't change anything for you and me, because duplication never has existed, or at least not for any length of time. Modern technology such as the internet has raised the degree of duplicatability which merely provides for a larger percentage of the population to succeed than ever before. What will change things for you and me is to engage in constant and never ending improvement in everything we do in network marketing, which by default, reduces the degree of duplication.

Do you know that 95% of the people who join a network marketing company will fail. There are many reasons and variables for their failures. I feel that one of the reasons is because many of the newcomers who joined network marketing are trained by unskilled and unprofessional individuals and the whole organization cannot duplicate.
Think for a moment. What will happen if an untrained individual is attempting to train another untrained person? Your organization will end up with a lot of untrained people, isn't it? In that case, how can duplication continued in your organization? You definitely will not have any network marketing success.
Whether you can be successful in your network marketing business will depends on the ease of duplication. I studied people who had large team in their business. They were all using a simple and systematic system to grow their team. Their network marketing success is due to its simplicity. Simple is duplicable.
In recent years, internet network marketing is gaining its popularity. Many internet marketers join internet network marketing to earn residual income. These skilled marketers can create fanciful websites, blogs, squeeze page or autoresponders. Yes, because of their skills and impressive copywriting, they may be able to recruit a lot of downlines and earn some pretty good income from it.
The problem is, can their downlines duplicate their skills? From my experience, many people who joined internet network marketing do not have any internet marketing skills. Some don't even know how to create a simple website. How do you expect them to recruit downlines the way those experienced marketers did? Simply said, your organization will become stagnant, because your downlines don't know how to do it and cannot duplicate. One-time income? Yes. Residual income in the long run? Hell No!
Remember, in order for you to be successful in your network marketing business, the whole process must be kept simple. From the way you generate traffic, attracting leads to sign up, everything must have a very simple system of doing it, so that your downlines can do it on their own after initial training. Only then can duplication creep in and residual income can come in. Either you or your company must have an "idiot proof" system so that all new members can follow. This is very crucial!

If you’re involved in any MLM/Network Marketing program the key thing to remember is duplication. The thing to remember is that if it’s not duplicatable; your downline may not be able to do it. I know it’s easy to think your skill set can be done by anyone, but the truth is, it may not be. I would guess that the majority of the people you’ll talk to and bring into your organization will be totally new to this industry and that’s fine. We were all new at one time and we need to remember that.
Let’s go over a few Do’s and Don’t’s
Do’s
Do teach that they need to let their friends and family know what they’re doing. There may be some people they don’t want to tell until they reach a certain point because of the following Do.
Do teach them not to let their friends and family discourage them. This is probably the most important thing to teach a new person. It’s been said that more people drop out of MLM or any business because someone talked them out of it. These are the same people who sit at home and watch TV while complaining that they’re broke and refusing to do anything to change it. Always remember and teach your downline to remember that if ANYONE has succeeded at ANYTHING, they can too!!!! All it takes is doing the same things they did to succeed.
Do teach them how the compensation plan works. They need to know how to get paid and they need to be able to explain it to others. The simplest plans are if you get X amount of people who get X amount of people, and you all make X amount of sales each month, you’ll make X amount of money each month. Geometric growth can really add up.
Here’s an example. You recruit 6 people who recruit 6 people (36) who recruit 6 people (216) who recruit 6 people (1296) who recruit 6 people (7776) who recruit 6 people (46,656) and everyone makes enough sales to generate $5.00 in upline commissions you would earn 233,280 bucks a month. This is just an example of course, since not all of them will recruit 6 people who make $5.00 in upline overrides etc and not all plans will use this formula. You will have to modify this to fit your comp plan. The simple fact that not everyone will find those 6 leaders is why most big money earners tell you to recruit as wide and fast as possible. 6 people doesn’t sound like many but the reality is the bigger the entry price is and the more sales they’ll need, the harder it’ll be to find those 6 leaders. But don’t stop at $5.00 in upline overrides. Teach them that customers come and go and to keep making sales.
Do provide support for them and teach them to provide support for their downline. It saddens me to receive an e-mail from an agent in someone else’s downline who can’t reach their sponsor. I help when I can and refer them to forums, websites etc when I can’t.
Do remember that this industry is the greatest chance for an average person to reach whatever level of success they want to achieve. There is no job or normal business that provides the financial and time freedom possibilities that MLM does.
Do teach them to buy a domain and either frame it or forward it to their company page. If their URL has a “?” or id code, the chances of someone typing the incorrect code is pretty good and gets better the longer that code is. Besides, you can get a domain for about $10.00 or less a year and the frame or forwarding service is usually included. The company I promote offers domains with URL forwarding and e-mail forwarding for $9.75 a year and tech support is great.
Do teach them to buy business cards and pass them out when it fits and keep a supply on hand at all times. If your company doesn’t offer business cards, they can be ordered through a local store or vistaprint.com.
Do teach them to create a profile page (also known as face page) on a site such as www.PowerfulIntentions.com and ideally use a domain with their name in it to point to it. I was lucky and my name was available but even if yours/theirs isn’t, there are still options if you’re creative. This is still a relationship business and regardless of whether or not they’ll be using the internet to prospect, they need a place to let others know who they are and what they’re doing. Most people should be careful of how much personal information they put on the page for safety reasons i.e. don’t put driving directions or that you live alone unless you think about the possible ramifications. My life is pretty much an open book, but I’m aware of the possible downside of revealing as much as I do.
Do teach them to get a second bank account for their business and put a set amount of money in it each month for advertising, leads, tools and deposit their commission checks there until they reach their goals. Reinvestment is key to succeeding. If you need to “borrow” from this account, pay yourself back with interest. If you want to get crazy, use the same interest that a check cashing/payday advance loan place charges, usually $20 per $100 per payday.
Don’t’s
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. This is a tough one for most people. I know it was for me. But it’s in your and their best interest to use the proven things that got you and your upline to where they are. I’m not saying to never try new things; but I am saying to use the tools that are proven and test the tools that you find before recommending them to anyone. Just because an ebook tells you to do something, doesn’t mean it will work. The internet is a rapidly evolving thing and what worked last year, may not work today and some things will always work.
Don’t teach anyone to do TV ads, Billboards or similar big ticket things until they are making a lot of money and maybe not even then. Remember that most people will only join you if they believe they can do the same things you do and most people can’t afford to start out buying a billboard or a spot on primetime.
Don’t teach anyone to hound anyone. It’s the fastest way to lose friends. It’s one thing to mention it from time to time and when someone asks what you’re doing to say you’re still doing the online business and getting closer to retirement but it’s another thing to call them every week and say “Are you ready to start your home business yet?” The later is the reason so many people have caller ID. Not to mention, there’s too many ways to find people who are interested. You can generate your own leads via the internet or newspaper ads or buy them from a reputable source. Don’t bother with paid sign-ups. I have yet to find anyone who has consistently made them work or had good things to say about them. Maybe they work for some people, but we’re looking for duplication.
Don’t try to build anyone’s business or tell them you will. This will only create a group of people who expect you to do their work for them. By all means help them, answer questions and be a good sponsor but DON’T tell them you’ll do all the work. The only exception to this is if your payplan has spillover and even then they’ll still need to work but as you also work, some of your people will also payoff for your downline. For a better example here’s a company that has spillover (See Resource Link Below) Always remember that if no one did any work in a spillover company but the top person he or she would die trying to fill a low level.
I know that this article doesn’t cover all of the do’s and don’t’s but it’ll get you started and hopefully prevent you from making a time wasting mistake.

Phone Calls and Rejection:
Traditional success in home business required one to make a lot of prospecting and closing phone call. The first call to a prospect was typically to determine if the prospect had a serious interest in looking at a home business opportunity. You either had to cold call or buy expensive leads.
Unless you have hide as thick as a rhino the rejection you experienced was tough. You had to make a lot of phone calls, suffer rude prospects and people who really were not interested. Visualization Marketing
Visualization marketing is a constantly changing process. I know that visualizing your success, whether that be online, or in life, is the first essential step that you must take to achieve your dreams and goals. This has been proven time and time by the great mystic leaders of the ages. Henry David Thoreau, Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tse, Og Mandino and all the others have written and talked about visualizing what we want our life to become. This step, the art of visualization marketing will lead to great success when done diligently and with purpose. In this newsletter, I will be sharing some of my most prized accomplishments by using this technique called visualization marketing. Without question, I now realize that I am the master of my own fate. I am the creator of my life. I hold in myself the power, the unlimited power to redesign my life in exactly the way I want it.
I have been using visualization marketing in my chosen field of search engine optimization for some time. Years ago, I had the distinct impression that I would do something great, something noteworthy in my life. One of my favorite thoughts here come from Og Mandino in "The World's Greatest Salesman." He talks about life being like a grain of wheat. If I do achieve my goals within that time frame, then I am a success. If I do not, then I am a failure. You see the power of not placing the element of demands upon yourself?

Visualization Marketing-The First Step The art of visualization marketing is becoming a more thought about subject now than ever before. With movies like "The Secret" stretching across the planet, its little wonder that people are being attracted to thought as a way of improving lives. This one simple technique can literally be the most important step in anything pertaining to life. I contend that this visualization thing is necessary when it comes to internet marketing as well. I know that a couple of short years ago, I did an experiment. For some reason I was drawn to the keyword phrase visualization marketing. I typed that phrase in the Google search box and found some very interesting articles. Guess who those articles were from? They were from none other than Mr. Bill Gates. I decided to do some experimentation to see really how good I was at this search engine optimization stuff. I plugged into that keyword category and before long, I had captured nearly the entire first page on Google for visualization marketing. Now you so-called experts may say that this is not a searched term, but I heartily disagree. It was a very important step for me in becoming the search engine optimization specialist that I am today.
I have another prime example of this theory of visualization being brought forth into real life examples. Mr. Leo Silvestri, a friend of mine in Jaguar Marketing, tells a real story about how he first came into Amway years ago. He was not concerned with the products, only the dream that Amway could and would achieve for him. He placed a picture of a Ferrari, the car of his dreams, on the refrigerator. The art of visualization is a subject that may not be widely advertised on the internet, but it is one area that I think must be pursued for a person to become success either online or offline. Visualization marketing is the simple process whereby a person visualizes the success of an online opportunity that they are pursuing, thus setting up the key elements in life geared to producing those results in real life.
Many mental masters throughout history knew and wrote about the importance of visualizing what is desired to come into a person's life. This simple act of quieting the mind and thinking about the success of a certain element in life, such as a healthy body, more money, obtaining that job or that new car...all these thoughts that are rampaging through our consciousness 24/7 can be directed to our ultimate harm...or our ultimate good.
The choices that we make today were quite possibly thought about years ago and are just now manifesting themselves into reality today.
If a person is constantly worried and fearful about losing their health, it is an all too often occurrence that happens that they lose that good health. If one feels fearful about an event that they think is going to happen, it probably will.
Conversely, we as human beings are able to project good thoughts in place of those bad and start visualizing what we want to accomplish. We may think about making money, or good health, or losing weight...whatever the reason...when we begin to visualize the act happening, it will happen at some point in the future.
Certainly there is no way to predict when the actual event will take place, but it will happen with consistent visualization practices.One of the best books on the subject that I have read was written by my friend, Louie Moss. I had the rare opportunity to meet up with Louie on one of my MLM projects and we became great friends. Louie's book, "68 Seconds to Becoming Wealthy" is in my opinion a very vibrant account of what a person can obtain by visualizing their success.
